Recently many surgical patients from Germany had a chance to read in the newspapers about German professors of surgery coming as visiting doctors to the HCP Medical Centre in Poznań. Since then more and more German patients have decided to come to Poznań, too. The reason for this decision is obvious: a typical health plan in Germany does not entitle the insured patients to be treated by a chief doctor or a professor of medicine personally, or to have all the private patient privileges in the hospital. If they still have this wish they need to buy expensive upgrades to their health insurance policies. However, if they travel 300 kilometres from Berlin to Poznań, Poland they are treated as private patients there - even though they are only standard health plan members.

How about you? Does your health plan allow you in your home country to be treated as a private patient in a VIP clinic and to be operated by a famous professor of surgery? Will you get such expenses reimbursed?

If not, why don't you use your temporary stay in Poland also for medical purposes? In Poland you don't need any health plan upgrade for it.

Please think of it.
